Sara Ducci a reçu son diplôme de ‘Laurea’ (Summa cum Laude) en 1996 et son Diplôme de Doctorat en Physique en 2000 à l’Université de Florence, Italie. Après un an de postdoc au Laboratoire Kastler Brossel à Paris (2000-2001) et un an comme Attaché Temporaire d’Enseignement et de Recherche à l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, elle a été recrutée comme Maître de Conférences à l’Université Paris Diderot où elle est devenue Professeur en 2008. Elle a travaillé sur la formation de structures spatiales dans des systèmes optiques nonlinéaires et sur les corrélations quantiques dans les oscillateurs paramétriques optiques. Ses activités actuelles portent sur la photonique quantique intégrée pour l’information quantique (sources d’états à deux photons, circuits photoniques quantiques) et la génération paramétrique optique dans des heterostructures et des microcavités en AlGaAs. Elle dirige le master ‘Dispositifs Quantiques’ offert par l’Université Paris Diderot et l’Ecole Polytechnique et co-dirige le programme de Master International ‘Nanotechnologies and Quantum Devices. Elle est membre de la section 30 (Milieux dilués et optique) du Comité National des Universités, du Conseil du département de Physique et coordinatrice de l’axe Photonique du Laboratoire d’Excellence SEAM (Science and Engineering for Advanced Materials and Devices).
